The School of Public Administration at the University of Victoria acknowledges with respect the Lekwungen peoples on whose traditional territory the university stands and the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.

The School of Public Administration is among Canada’s leaders in the delivery of programs in public and non-profit sector administration and community development. We invite applications for a full-time assistant professor position (tenure-track). We are looking for candidates with an expertise in Indigenous public and community sector administration, policy, governance, or community development, financial and quantitative analysis. The preferred start date is July 1, 2021. 

The School of Public Administration is dedicated to educating public sector and community leaders who are able to effectively navigate complex settings. We contribute to the development of innovative thinkers and professionals who will have a positive impact on governments and communities through their commitments to the values of democracy, engaged and courageous scholarship, sustainability and inclusivity. 

The School of Public Administration offers multi-disciplinary programs for practicing or prospective leaders, managers and analysts seeking the skills necessary for effective and responsible public management and policy analysis. We offer five undergraduate Professional Specialization Certificates and three Diplomas, as well as graduate-level Master’s degrees in Public Administration (MPA) and Community Development (MA), a Graduate Certificate and Diploma in Evaluation, and a PhD in Public Administration. Limited hire

Requirements 
Candidates for the appointment should hold a Ph.D., or have a fixed dissertation defense date when they apply.

We seek candidates with pertinent expertise in Indigenous public and community sector administration, policy, governance, community development, financial and quantitative analysis. Candidates must have a promising research program. Post-doctoral training and teaching experience will be considered assets.

We are interested in recruiting a person who collaborates well and is interested in making a difference in their academic and community environments through teaching, research, and university and community service. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the graduate and undergraduate programs, in both online and on campus formats, supervise graduate students, conduct research and participate in the administrative life of the School.
