 The Associate Vice-President, Finance provides leadership, vision, strategy and direction for the University’s financial services including: Banking, Budget, Financial Reporting, Payment Services, Payroll, Planning & Analysis, Procurement, Research Accounting, and Treasury. The position works with the Vice President, Finance & Administration to maintain the financial integrity of the University, including ensuring the efficiency of its internal control environment. The role advances the economic, efficient, and effective use of the University's financial resources, and the need to maintain its capital for future operations. The position engages University leadership and cross-divisional teams to define and implement institutional financial strategies designed to support the achievement of the organization’s goals, students, academic mission, and research.

 The new AVP, Finance will bring senior financial and operational leadership experience in a highly complex organization of similar or larger scale to SFU. This experience will ideally have been gained in the public or not for profit sectors. Post-secondary experience is a definite asset. Exceptional leadership and communication skills will be combined with a commitment to the mission of the University and an approach that is collaborative and inclusive.
