New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is situated on the traditional homelands of three Wabanaki Nations: Wolastoqey, Mi’kmaq, and Passamaquoddy Nations. Since 1726 this unceded land has been subject to Peace and Friendship treaties that are still in effect today. NBCC is grateful to learn together on this land and do so guided by the original spirit of those treaties - peace, respect and friendship.
Integrity is an important part of education and one of the leadership qualities you’ll bring to this very high-profile role. New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) transforms lives and communities across New Brunswick and contributes to the social and economic prosperity of the Province. NBCC’s graduates and operations contribute $1.5 billion to the provincial economy each year. The College’s graduates enjoy a high level of success (90% employment rate with 94% of those employed working in New Brunswick per the graduate follow-up survey of 2016 graduates). NBCC’s programs, services and initiatives contribute to New Brunswick’s social and economic prosperity by supporting the aspirations of individual learners, seizing the opportunities of the labour market, and collaboratively solving the challenges of communities and industry. In addition to over 90 certificate and diploma programs, NBCC provides specialized and customized training to meet the needs of specific sectors and communities. With Campuses in six regions across New Brunswick, NBCC is a community hub, highly attuned to the realities of local and regional economies and social matters. You’ll join NBCC at a watershed moment as you collaborate with students, employees, alumni and stakeholders to implement the bold strategic plan, Together We Rise (2017-2022) for the evolution and development of this essential educational institution.
Building on NBCC’s strong foundation, you will have the chance to put an indelible imprint on the future direction of NBCC as you provide leadership to make NBCC even more responsive to the educational needs of New Brunswick and Canada. As President and CEO working closely with the Board and your executive team, you will inspire vision, fresh thinking and change across the entire organization. You will strengthen relationships with private and public sector employers who will recruit NBCC graduates. With your team, you will encourage forward-thinking program development and alliances; build enrolment locally, nationally and internationally; and spend time with students, employees, government and the community to gain a true sense of where NBCC is now and a direction for the future.
As the ideal candidate, your credentials should include a senior leadership role(s) in a post- secondary education institution, a crown corporation, and/or a major, not-for-profit or private sector organization. Perhaps the most noteworthy qualifications you have for this position are your commitment to the role of community colleges in providing accessible post-secondary education, and your ability to rally and inspire people to imagine the possibilities.
