Ranked one of 2018 BC’s Top Employers, the Industry Training Authority leads and coordinates BC’s skilled trades system by working with employers, employees, industry, labour, training providers and government to issue credentials, manage apprenticeships, set program standards and increase opportunities in the trades.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO provides leadership and direction for ITA and has overall responsibility for the general management of, and control over, the business and activities of ITA and is accountable for working in partnership with government, employers and learners to ensure that ITA fulfills the goals and objectives established by the Board. The CEO does this by leading and managing ITA through the development and implementation of strategies and policies, the management of its resources, ensuring efficient and effective operations, and performing other duties required by the Board.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned senior leader with a track record of providing strategic leadership that has resulted in the achievement of corporate goals and objectives, ideally as a CEO, COO or in another significant corporate leadership role. Experience could include leadership roles within various industrial sectors, post-secondary training institutions or Government. The preferred candidate will have exceptional leadership, communication and mentorship capabilities and be highly skilled in building relationships with key government contacts and traditionally under-represented groups including women, Indigenous peoples and visible minority peoples from varying demographic backgrounds and regions.
