Doctors of BC, formerly known as the BC Medical Association (BCMA), is a voluntary association of 14,000 physicians, residents and medical students in British Columbia.
Their vision is to promote a social, economic, and political climate in which members can provide the citizens of BC with the highest standard of health care, while achieving maximum professional satisfaction and fair economic reward.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Director, EQI (Engagement and Quality Improvement) is responsible for managing all operations within Doctors of BC that implement the direction and decisions for the Joint Collaborative Committees (JCCs), namely the General Practice Services Committee (GPSC), Specialist Services Committee (SSC), and the Shared Care Committee (SCC). The role requires an energizing, versatile and authentic leader that has the ability to think strategically, but also enjoys understanding and executing the details for success. The Executive Director, EQI displays exceptional leadership ability and is adept at managing large business units through operational change while building strong collaborative partnerships and mutually beneficial relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders. The Executive Director, EQI works with physician leaders to assist in helping to influence and shape the three JCCs, but is primarily responsible for delivering the work needed to achieve organizational and committee objectives. This includes building a culture of achievement and accountability that is consistent and aligned with the overall culture at Doctors of BC.
The ideal candidate will have senior strategic leadership experience that could be gained in a health service delivery organization, other public sector organizations or the private sector. Knowledge of the BC’s primary health care system including an understanding of health regions and acute and community-based services would be an asset.
