Job Description

The Association of Canadian Pension Management (ACPM) is the leading advocate for pension plan sponsors and administrators in the pursuit of a balanced, effective and sustainable retirement income system in Canada. ACPM’s membership represents over 400 companies and retirement income plans that cover more than 3 million plan members.

ACPM’s mission is to provide efficient retirement for Canadians: a mission both noble and inspiring. This mission has attracted a high calibre board of directors and cadre of volunteer members. ACPM enlists the talent and resources of its national volunteer member base to provide thought leadership on behalf of Canadian plan sponsors, administrators and their service providers, in retirement income system policy and advocacy.

Due to an upcoming retirement, the ACPM has an exciting opportunity for a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization going forward.  Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is accountable for providing overall leadership and management within the policies established by the Board and stewards the achievement of the ACPM’s strategic and operational goals. The CEO leads all strategy, advocacy, member and volunteer engagement, and operations of the organization. Central to this role will be implementing a new and innovative strategic plan that will significantly grow the Association and diversify revenue streams.

The ideal candidate is a senior leader in a membership-driven not-for-profit or association with a high reliance on volunteers and who brings a strong understanding of finance or the broader financial services sector. Alternatively, they may be a pension professional with the governance expertise to steward a board.  A strategic thinker with impeccable interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, the ideal candidate has supported a board, led advocacy, and brought a strong service orientation for members. The CEO is responsible for leading and growing the Association; experience generating new revenue streams, building a brand, and demonstrating value to members is desired. Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.

The CEO works out of the National Office located in Toronto, Ontario.  This is a significant opportunity for a strategic and hands-on leader to play a meaningful role driving the success of Canada’s premier advocacy organization for retirement plan sponsors and administrators.
