The Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada (AWCBC) was founded in 1919 as a non-profit organization to facilitate the exchange of information between Workers’ Compensation Boards and Commissions.

The Opportunity

The Association of Workers' Compensation Boards of Canada (AWCBC) is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide strategic leadership and oversight consistent with the Association's mission, vision, and priorities. The CEO will be instrumental in setting operational plans and objectives, and will collaborate with dedicated staff in delivering exceptional services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership and Vision: Define and articulate the AWCBC strategic vision and ensure that all operational plans align with the organization's mission and objectives, and lead the development and implementation of long-term strategies to promote organizational growth and sustainability.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficient management and that organizational goals are met.
  • Financial Management: Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including board members, government entities, community leaders, and business partners, and maintain inter-jurisdictional agreement for claims.
  • Governance and Compliance: Work closely with the board of directors to seek their direction in policy decisions and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.
  • Innovation: Work with members to facilitate the sharing of member initiatives across the country through creative and future-oriented approaches.
  • Inclusive Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop high-performance teams to advance employee engagement, facilitate a sense of belonging amongst employees and promote continuous learning.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a proactive multitasker, adept at identifying and leveraging opportunities to foster cooperation among various Compensation Boards and Commissions across Canada. This visionary, innovative, and collaborative executive will excel as a relationship builder, uniting stakeholders with superior communication skills. Additionally, the CEO's keen financial insight, political acumen and proven expertise in branding and marketing will enhance the Association's capacity to deliver substantial value-added services.

Qualifications

  • University or College degree in a related discipline.
  • Ten (10) plus years of experience in a senior leadership role.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
