The Revenue Division provides administration, compliance and enforcement activities for tax statutes administered by the Ministry of Finance. As part of the Revenue Division, the Income Taxation Branch delivers tax refund and compliance programs under various statutes and is responsible for overseeing and governance of the province’s agreements with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for administering personal and corporate income taxes. Income Taxation Branch supports professional development including completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Course. Support may be available through the Pacific Leaders Scholarship for Public Servants.
As Senior Income Tax Specialist, your role is challenging and multi-faceted. The Senior Income Tax Specialist role requires a confident individual possessing strong analytical and communication skills to develop legislative and policy documents. Applying your understanding of the tax system, you provide expertise to the Ministry, other provincial Ministries and other governments on income or related tax issues and administrative policy.
In this position you will lead the research, development and processing of legislation and policy through the required stages and coordinate the implementation of new legislation, regulation and administrative policies.

Qualifications for this role include:
• Completion of law degree or must be a member in good standing with a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA; CPA, CGA; CPA, CMA; or CPA), issued by The Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in researching, interpreting and applying complex income and related tax legislation.
• Experience working in a sophisticated web based computer environment
• Preference may be given to applicants that have:
3 or more years of experience in researching, interpreting and applying complex income and related tax legislation.
Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.
Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax course.
