Job Description

Join this growing organization with a focus on implementing policies and programs that will have a positive effect on Ontario's Growing Seniors Demographic. Use your persuasion, consultation and negotiation skills to develop, build and maintain key stakeholder relationships, and to gain support for ministry initiatives, policies and programs from other ministries and stakeholders. Bring your expertise in critical thinking and analysis to lead the development of policy and programs and to identify new and emerging trends relating to issues impacting seniors in Ontario.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will: 
• Provide project leadership and expertise in policy development initiatives
• Lead and conduct studies to identify new and emerging trends relating to issues impacting seniors in Ontario
• Plan, review and analyze cross-government policy proposals 
• Plan and conduct research, including qualitative and quantitative analysis
• Foster and maintain new and existing internal and external stakeholder relations and partnerships
• Provide advice and recommendations to senior management and the Minister on seniors' issues, programs and services
• Prepare and present clear and concise findings from a variety of information sources

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge

You have:
• knowledge of policy and program development processes and government legislative and decision-making structures to lead and participate in the development of strategies, policies, evaluation and legislative frameworks
• knowledge of program analysis and evaluation techniques to assess the effectiveness of new/changed policies and programs 
• an understanding of broad socio-economic issues impacting seniors, including service needs of seniors and their families

Project Management Skills:

• You demonstrate project leadership skills and expertise for the development of strategic provincial policies and frameworks 
• You demonstrate project management techniques to plan and lead various initiatives relating to program and policy issues facing the MSA

Communication and Influencing Skills:

• With your excellent verbal and written communication skills, you can respond to issues, provide recommendations, prepare policy documents, reports, Cabinet submissions, briefing materials and correspondence
• You can promote and advocate for policy initiatives to internal and external stakeholders
• You demonstrate persuasion, consultation and negotiation skills to engage, develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships
• With your facilitation skills and judgement, you can communicate sensitive issues to internal and external stakeholders

Research, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

You can:
• conduct qualitative/quantitative research studies and to undertake analysis of trends
• plan and lead policy research projects
• assess and evaluate the implications and impact of proposed policy change and medium to long-term impacts
• identify, analyze and evaluate policy issues and competing interests of stakeholders and develop recommendations
