The Pierre De Celles / IPAC Award for Excellence in Teaching Public Administration

About the Award

The Pierre De Celles Award recognizes outstanding accomplishment that is worthy of emulation by encouraging and recognizing exceptionally effective and creative professors in the area of Public Administration.

In its ongoing efforts to promote excellence in the teaching of public administration studies, IPAC created an annual award to honour the memory of a dean in the field, Professor Pierre De Celles. He taught for many years at the École nationale d'administration publique and was its Director General. Prof. De Celles was a member of the Board of Directors of IPAC, and acted as Treasurer and President-Elect.

Criteria for Assessment

  1. IPAC is calling for nominations of excellent post-secondary teachers in the field of public administration who have demonstrated their:
  2. Consistent concern for improvement of the courses, both in terms of content and delivery.
  3. Commitment in applying innovative and effective teaching principles and techniques in public administration.
  4. Contribution to the improvement of quality of education in his/her department or faculty or to the field of public administration, by the introduction of innovative teaching concepts, tools and new media in his/her courses.
  5. Experience in teaching a wide variety of students (e.g. young and mature students, civil servants, local/regional/national and international programs.

In sum, we are looking for excellent teachers who bring a wide variety of experience and knowledge as well as passion to educating and inspiring current and future public sector professionals and academics.


Your nomination file must include:

  • A nomination form duly completed and signed;
  • Maximum of three letters of support outlining the key educational achievements and demonstration of proof of the award criteria.
  • Student evaluations, letters and testimonies of others are appreciated, but not required.
