Mouhamadou Sanni Yaya

Bio

A member of Quebec’s order of certified administrators and a civil and commercial law arbitrator accredited by the Quebec institute of mediation and arbitration, Mouhamadou has earned several university degrees, including a Ph.D. in Law (LLD) from the Université de Montréal, a Ph.D. in private law and criminal sciences from the Université Paris-Saclay and a master’s degree in public administration from the national school of public administration.

A professor at Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR), Dr. Sanni Yaya has previously taught at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law (civil law section) and Telfer School of Management. He gained in-depth knowledge of federal public administration as a project manager with Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard, and senior policy officer with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (Government of Canada). Before joining the federal government, for many years, Mouhamadou held a variety of positions in Quebec’s public administration, with Revenu Québec, Quebec’s department of labour, employment and social solidarity, and the department of justice, where he performed the duties of a justice of the peace, special clerk, and registrar in bankruptcies, presiding over bankruptcy and insolvency hearings at Quebec Superior Court. Dr. Sanni Yaya is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Evaluation Society.
