Bio

Mkabi Walcott is the Vice-President of the Standards and International Relations at the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). She joined the SCC team having over 16 years experience in management, standardization, quality infrastructure development, project management and strategy development.

In her current position she is responsible for setting the strategic priorities and direction of the Standards and International Relations programmes, which includes oversight of the Canadian standards development system as well as the governance of SCC-accredited standards development organizations.

Internationally Dr. Walcott provides strong representation and leadership in various positions, she is a current member of the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) Technical Management Board, the COPANT Board of Directors and several other advisory committees.
Dr. Walcott has a breadth of experience in both technical and policy related work. Major accomplishments during this tenure includes championing the alignment of all standardization programs with national economic and social priorities, designing stakeholder strategies focussed on raising awareness on the value of standardization, advocacy for the value of the standards development organizations and community of Canadian technical experts.

Her unique experience working with a diverse number of organizations provides a broad perspective and understanding of matters that are relevant to members across various stakeholder groups and organisations.
