Are you interested in learning more about government transition in the NWT? Would you like to better understand what happens once the writ drops and/or what happens behind closed doors once Members of the Legislative Assembly are elected on October 1st?

IPAC-NWT has invited 3 experienced panelists to join us for a lunch-hour discussion on all things transition and want you to join us!

Panelist Information:

Charles Hunter is the Director of Cabinet Secretariat with the Government of the Northwest Territories. Cabinet Secretariat provides advice on priorities, strategies, policies and legislation to the Premier and Cabinet; and support for all Cabinet operations. As the Director of this division, Charles is responsible for leading and coordinating Cabinet's responsibilities under the Process Convention on Priority Setting and Reporting. This involves a number of items, including coordinating transition planning and implementation.

Shaun Dean is the Director of Cabinet Communications and Protocol and has held this position since October 2011. He is responsible for providing strategic political communications advice to the Premier and Cabinet, as well as overseeing the provision of media relations, public affairs and issues management services to Ministers and departments. Shaun has 26 years of experience with the GNWT, including 17 years of service as a Cabinet advisor in the Department of Executive and Indigenous Affairs. He was formerly Deputy Secretary of Corporate Communications and Protocol, as well as a Cabinet Policy Analyst with Cabinet Secretariat.

Heather Riviere has spent her career working at the Legislative Assembly and has become incredibly well versed in the rules and procedures of the Legislative Assembly. She spent 22 years in the role of Legislative Officer with the Government of the Northwest Territories where she was responsible for providing advice and guidance to Cabinet, Minister’s Offices and Departments on the development of government legislation, as well as the various requirements of the Rules of the Legislative Assembly and procedures during Session. She is currently on transfer assignment to the position of Ministerial Special Advisor.

Lunch will be provided by Cliff Café and they will be serving Creole Whitefish Neptune with Rice and Tossed Salad.
