Setting Our Volunteers Up for Success: Toronto Region Group Checklist


Information on Expectations and Benefits 
o Volunteers will be provided with one-page job description including time commitment required

Access to the Team
o Volunteers will be provided with the contact information and name of Toronto Region Group lead for the respective event 
o Confirmation of time commitment required for a specific event will be communicated
o A clear line of communications will be established from the beginning  including how changes and updates to the event will be communicated/received
o At the event, volunteers will be introduced to other members of the Toronto Region Group executive at the event

Practical Information - Event
o Volunteers will be informed of transportation information e.g. nearest subway station, where they can park for the event, accessible entrance
o Volunteers will be reimbursed for the cost of parking at the event with prior approval and upon submitting original receipts
o Volunteers will be informed where to keep/leave their personal items and the location of emergency exits and washrooms 
o Volunteers will be provided with water or informed that they know to bring their own

o Volunteers will be provided with the supplies they need to do their job (e.g. pens, paper, device charger) and a checklist if appropriate 
Thank You Note
o Volunteers are appreciated and will be emailed a thank you note (aim for within 24 hours of the completion of the event) from the Board member lead for the Event. If contact information is given, the volunteer’s manager would be copied on the email.
