Event Planner Volunteer

IPAC Toronto Region group holds regular collective learning and speaker events on topics relevant to public service. Events can range from panel discussions to lectures.  Assistance is needed for the planning of our events.

OUTLINE OF VOLUNTEER’S RESPONSIBILITIES: Execute IPAC Toronto Region event from start to finish in partnership with IPAC Toronto Region Group Board member.

This may include the following: Meeting regularly with Board member mentor to plan event. Engaging Board members and Advisory Group to come up with a topic for the event and get recommendations for speakers and other event ideas. Reaching out to speakers and moderator to secure date. Secure event venue and plan catering. Planning meetings with speakers and moderator to define learning objectives for the event and to determine the event format (e.g. lecture, panel discussion, fireside chat, etc.). Securing volunteers to help with event day responsibilities.

SUPPORT PLAN: Board member would provide mentorship and coach you through planning the event by providing support throughout the process.

TIME COMMITMENT: Would need to commit to planning 1 IPAC Toronto Region Group event from start to finish. Participation on an event planning committee typically requires 2-3 hours monthly for several months. 

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED: Project management skills, organizational skills, judgment skills.
