This interactive workshop is designed for rising public sector professionals who are ready to grow with greater confidence and intention. Together, participants will explore practical approaches to navigating imposter syndrome and better understanding the culture of working within government.
The session will introduce strategies for building a personal brand, strengthening and expanding professional networks, and showing up more effectively in key moments. Through guided discussion, participants will explore how to read the room, when to lean in, and how to respond thoughtfully and with impact.
By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a foundational action plan and a clearer sense of how to begin shaping and adapting their careers — whether within government or beyond.

Leslie Woo
Principal and Founder, shebuildscities.org
Leslie Woo is an internationally respected city leader with more than 30 years of experience building sustainable communities and shaping urban development across Canada’s largest metropolitan regions.
A rare tri-sector leader, Leslie has worked across the public, private, academic, and not-for-profit sectors as a planner, architect, corporate executive, author, educator, and community activator. Formerly CEO of CivicAction, she led collaborative civic engagement efforts to accelerate solutions to complex urban challenges, including housing affordability and inclusive growth.
Before joining CivicAction, Leslie served in senior executive roles at Metrolinx for more than 12 years as Chief Planning and Development Officer, where she directed over $60 billion in transformative transit expansion projects.
Leslie is currently Planner in Residence at the University of Waterloo and Senior Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy. Through shebuildscities.org, she continues to champion equitable, resilient, and future-ready cities, bringing a rare combination of policy depth, civic leadership, and practical city-building experience to conversations about the future of inclusive urban growth.
