Join us for an insightful presentation with Dr. Gabriel Eidelman and Dr. Jack Lucas, the 2023 J.E. Hodgetts Award winners, who were recognized for their article, "How do municipal mayors and councillors communicate with other levels of government? Evidence from a multi-level survey of Canadian elected officials," published in the Canadian Public Administration journal.

The session will be moderated by Dr. Evert Lindquist, with discussant Ann Mitchell, Chief Administrative Officer, Medicine Hat, joining the conversation.

Dr. Eidelman and Dr. Lucas will discuss their research on municipal intergovernmental relations in Canada, exploring the informal processes that play a vital role in dialogue across government levels. Using data from a pan-Canadian survey of elected officials, the study delves into the dynamics of communication, the key channels used by officials, and the influence municipal leaders—particularly mayors—have in shaping these essential intergovernmental connections.
