IPAC-U: The Rise of Computational Public Policy

Governments across the world are fully immersing themselves in public policy automatisation, using computational methods to complement policy analysis and implementation. However, this shift has generated much confusion, anxiety and, ultimately, resistance from shareholders. How can we best address these challenges and propel public policy into the age of automation?

Jean-Christophe Boucher is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science, MacEwan University. He is currently a Fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, a Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Security and Development at Dalhousie University, Senior Fellow at the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur les relations internationales du Canada et du Québec, and book review editor for the Canadian Foreign Policy Journal. He holds a BA in History from the University of Ottawa, a MA in Philosophy from the Université de Montréal and a PhD in Political Science from Université Laval. He specializes in international relations (with an emphasis on peace and security issues), Canadian foreign and defence policies, and methodology.
