Calling All New Professionals

If you are a new professional (someone with 5 or less years of public or voluntary sector experience) or a student studying public administration, we want to hear from you. IPAC has an active program for new professionals in the National Capital Region.

Recent New Professionals Events

April 2010: Link & Drink Event

February 2010: An IPAC New Professionals' Learning Event: The Machinery of Government with Mr. Joe Wild, the Assistant Secretary to Cabinet, Machinery of Government, Privy Council Office.

November 2009: Beer Tasting Event

October 2009: Winds of Change 3rd IPAC National New Professionals Conference

June 2009: Link and Drink

June 2008: IPAC-NCR organized a New Professionals Link and Drink at the Cock and Lion that attracted over 30 new professionals.

June 2008: IPAC-NCR sponsored a new professional to attend the IPAC National Conference in Quebec City this August. A large number of expressions of interest were received.

May 2008: IPAC-NCR was invited by the Canada Public Service Agency to contribute ideas on the Government of Canada’s public service branding initiative. New professional members of IPAC-NCR were invited to attend a brainstorming session run by the Agency, ensuring that the branding initiative resonates with young Canadians who have an interest in public administration.

March 2008: IPAC-NCR organized a New Professionals Wine Tasting Event. Attended by over 50 new professionals, attendees sampled a number of wines at Vineyards Wine Bar and Bistro, while networking with fellow public servants.

December 2007: IPAC-NCR hosted a New Professionals Mixer attended by over 40 new professionals and public administration students. With us were a number of senior federal government executives, who shared career advice with attendees. IPAC-NCR also held a door prize draw for one-year IPAC memberships.

Volunteer Opportunities

IPAC-NCR’s New Professionals Program is organized by a New Professionals Advisory Group, comprised of creative and energetic new professionals from all orders of government and the non-profit sector. Members of the New Professionals Advisory Group contribute in many ways, including:

- Bringing forward issues of interest to new professionals.
- Acting as a sounding board to the New Professionals Representatives on issues of interest to new professionals.
- Assisting the New Professionals Representatives in bringing IPAC services and events to new professional members of IPAC NCR.
- Encouraging new professionals to become members of IPAC.
- Assist the New Professionals Representatives and IPAC NCR in building a strong new professionals’ presence at the 2010 IPAC National Conference in Ottawa-Gatineau.
