Job Description

The sixth-largest municipality in New Brunswick, Quispamsis is situated along the breathtaking Kennebecasis and Hammond River waterways. This picturesque, progressive, and vibrant suburban community is located in southwestern New Brunswick, 22 kilometres northeast of the City of Saint John and is a convenient 15-minute drive from the Saint John airport. The Town of Quispamsis plays a crucial role in managing and providing services to the community’s 18,245 residents, including utilities such as water and sewage, waste management, public transportation, parks and recreation facilities, local law enforcement, zoning and land use planning as well as addressing their immediate needs and concerns while contributing to the overall well-being and development of the community.

Now, the growing Town of Quispamsis is seeking its next Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to champion the Town’s vision being a vibrant, active community surrounded by natural beauty, offering a quality of life driven by exceptional services, amenities, and programs.

Position Profile

Reporting to the Mayor and Town Council, the Chief Administrative Officer provides effective leadership, motivation, and administration of the affairs of the Town of Quispamsis. The CAO provides leadership and guidance to the Town’s team of experienced and dedicated professionals and ensures the effective and efficient delivery of municipal services. The CAO supports all aspects of the town’s day-to-day operations and ensures that the vision, decisions, priorities, policies, and initiatives of the Council are implemented as directed and perform the duties and functions and exercise the powers assigned to a Chief Administrative Officer in accordance with applicable legislation and by-laws and all policies and resolutions adopted by Council.  Furthermore, the CAO collaborates with community partners, government entities, Council, and staff to enhance efficiencies and ensure sustainable growth of the Town.

Ideal Candidate Profile

As the ideal candidate, you are a highly strategic, visionary and seasoned administrative and operational leader, bringing strong experience from within complex and diverse, multi-partner environments. You have a significant track record of overseeing high performing teams, budgets, services, and operations, ideally within publicly accountable organizations. A natural collaborator with strong interpersonal and communication skills, you have a well-earned reputation for building consensus and effective working relationships with a diverse group of organizational and community partners. You are experienced in navigating the various channels of government and can objectively evaluate and assess policies and legislation which can impact upon the Town of Quispamsis.  You are adaptable and agile with a reputation for high integrity and for fostering a work environment characterized by respect, collaboration, inclusivity, and productivity at all levels.
