2008 Lieutenant Governor's Award Recipient
Ron Hicks, Deputy Minister of Executive Council, Government of Alberta
Ron Hicks was presented with this award during a ceremony on December 3, 2008.
Mr. Hicks has committed over a quarter of a century of service to the provincial government, eventually becoming the chief civil servant in the province when he was appointed the Deputy Minister of Executive Council in 2004.
He played an important role developing ground breaking national agreements such as the Alberta/British Columbia Trade and Investment Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA). He also helped establish an extensive employee consultation process, brought in measures to enhance policy development and coordination across government, established a comprehensive tracking system to identify and track progress on key policy initiatives, and lead the introduction of a common set of vision and values for the Alberta Public Service.
