Welcome

Welcome to the official website of the Toronto Region Group of IPAC, the Institute of Public Administration of Canada. IPAC is not-for-profit professional association, dedicated to promoting excellence in public administration in all orders of government.

Message from the Chair

"I have the best job in the world." This sentiment was expressed to me recently by a senior public servant when I asked him whether he liked his job. I couldn't agree with him more. Those of us who are lucky enough to work in the public service indeed have the best jobs in the world. We have the opportunity to do work that matters and that makes a real difference to real people. At our best, as public servants we help create better futures for our towns, our cities, our provinces and our country.

This increasingly complex world we live in, however, makes doing our jobs as public servants ever more challenging. Today's multifaceted issues demand more than mere subject matter expertise and technocratic solutions – they require innovative thinking and collaborative relationship-building across orders of governments, between departments, ministries and divisions within governments, and between governments and the public itself. As public servants we need to connect the dots between apparently disparate but ultimately related issues, because all but the most mundane issues facing society today are inextricably interconnected.

The Institute of Public Administration of Canada Toronto Region Group (IPAC TRG) is a community of interest dedicated to promoting excellence in public service. We are committed to providing today's public servants and others interested in the field of public administration with the tools and resources needed to do our jobs not only well, but with a clarity of vision and an understanding of the complexity, relationships and collaboration in order to build a sustainable future for all.
