IPAC Awards Ceremony - September 17, 2009

The Saskatchewan Regional Group of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) is pleased to announce that the IPAC Lieutenant Governor Gold Medal for distinguished public service will be presented today (Thursday, September 17th) to Five Hills Health Region’s Pursuing Excellence Team, comprising Cheryl Craig, Dan Florizone, Dale Schattenkirk, and Edna Steckhan.
The presentation will be made at Government House in Regina before a large crowd of IPAC members, friends and colleagues of Cheryl Craig, Dan Florizone, Dale Schattenkirk, and Edna Steckhan. Arrival and seating will take place at 4:30, with the ceremony starting promptly at 5:00. A reception will follow. IPAC Saskatchewan annually awards a gold medal as a mark of distinction and exceptional achievement to a person or a team who, in the opinion of a panel of independent judges, has shown distinctive leadership in public administration in Saskatchewan, or who, by writings or other endeavours, has made a significant contribution in the field of public administration in Saskatchewan.
IPAC-SK Acting President Terry Coleman will also present an award to a Promising New Professional, Kevin Sliva of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs. This award is presented to promising new public service professionals within Saskatchewan, who, in the opinion of an independent selection committee, are emerging leaders within the public sector and represent the ideals, values, and abilities of sound public administration.
Michael Fotheringham, Masters of Public Administration student at the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy (University of Regina) will also receive both the IPAC Thought Leadership Award, a national award recognizing the intellectual and community contributions made by a student in public administration and policy in each province, and the IPAC-Saskatchewan Outstanding Student Award.
