The Ministry of Natural Resources is responsible for developing and managing provincial programs in an ecologically sustainable way in order to conserve biodiversity and ensure that Ontario’s natural resources are protected, managed and available for the enjoyment and use of future generations, and to ensure public safety. As a result of recent exciting organizational changes, we offer a challenging opportunity for a Director, Strategic Policy Coordination and Integration. By strengthening and aligning the development of the ministry’s policies, strategies, initiatives and programs within the new consolidated Policy Division, you will be responsible for building and managing the ministry’s capacity in the areas of integrated policy and program development, coordination and liaison. Directing the development of economic analysis tools, standards, best practices and evaluation methods and the provision of expertise and training, you will ensure the consistency and calibre of our products while also facilitating submissions through the government decision-making process. Critical to this role will also be directing the provision of comprehensive socio-economic research, analysis and assessment to support ministry policy and program development initiatives; providing leadership on major government initiatives that impact multiple aspects of our policy and program development agenda; and directing the ministry’s responsibilities related to environmental assessment and the Environmental Bill of Rights.
Location: Toronto.
Qualifications: demonstrated leadership competencies to deliver, inspire, connect, and transform at an executive level; demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in policy development, guiding strategies and initiatives through complex approval processes and developing the standards, tools and best practices necessary to ensure consistency and coordination of high-level policy products that further the ministry and government natural resource management agenda; proven expertise in directing the provision of comprehensive socio-economic research, analysis and assessment to inform organizational decision-making with the ability to provide direction on multiple, concurrent large-scale projects; proven expertise in partnership development and consultation processes, to build linkages with colleagues/counterparts at the provincial and federal levels in support of strategic coordination and integration; superior issues management skills, including political acuity and responsiveness to negotiate change and represent the ministry’s interests when dealing with complex issues and initiatives; a proven champion of change with exceptional oral, written and presentation skills.
