Calling All New Professionals!!!

If you are a new professional (someone with 5 or less years of public or voluntary sector experience) or a student studying public administration, we want to hear from you! IPAC has an active program for new professionals in the National Capital Region.

Recent New Professionals Events

Examples of recent new professionals events include:

•     December 2007: IPAC-NCR hosted a New Professionals Mixer attended by over 40 new professionals and public administration students. With us were a number of senior federal government executives, who shared career advice with attendees. IPAC-NCR also held a door prize draw for one-year IPAC memberships.

•     March 2008: IPAC-NCR organized a New Professionals Wine Tasting Event. Attended by over 50 new professionals, attendees sampled a number of wines at Vineyards Wine Bar and Bistro, while networking with fellow public servants.

•     May 2008: IPAC-NCR was invited by the Canada Public Service Agency to contribute ideas on the Government of Canada’s public service branding initiative. New professional members of IPAC-NCR were invited to attend a brainstorming session run by the Agency, ensuring that the branding initiative resonates with young Canadians who have an interest in public administration.

•     June 2008: IPAC-NCR organized a New Professionals Link and Drink at the Cock and Lion that attracted over 30 new professionals.

•     June 2008: IPAC-NCR sponsored a new professional to attend the IPAC National Conference in Quebec City this August. A large number of expressions of interest were received.

Volunteer Opportunities

IPAC-NCR’s New Professionals Program is organized by a New Professionals Advisory Group, comprised of creative and energetic new professionals from all orders of government and the non-profit sector. Members of the New Professionals Advisory Group contribute in many ways, including:

•     Bringing forward issues of interest to new professionals.
•     Acting as a sounding board to the New Professionals Representatives on issues of interest to new professionals.
•     Assisting the New Professionals Representatives in bringing IPAC services and events to new professional members of IPAC NCR.
•     Encouraging new professionals to become members of IPAC.
•     Assist the New Professionals Representatives and IPAC NCR in building a strong new professionals’ presence at the 2010 IPAC National Conference in Ottawa-Gatineau.
