The Langley School District has recently come through a significant funding challenge and requires a strong, seasoned leader in its new Secretary-Treasurer to oversee the recovery and set the District on a course for sustainability. The Secretary-Treasurer has a clear mandate to ensure and enable outstanding educational opportunities for all learners. The District requires an experienced, dynamic and innovative leader with demonstrated skills in inspiring a team to direct all of the District’s financial and corporate services. As Corporate Secretary to the Board of Education, the Secretary-Treasurer works closely with this body to ensure Trustees have all the skills, knowledge and information required to make sound business decisions that best serve students and their families. He or she also works in conjunction with the Superintendent to establish a respectful environment and assist the Board in executing its duties within the parameters of proper protocol.
As the ideal candidate, you will bring:
- A fundamental commitment to public education, students and the school community.
- Experience working with elected or appointed governing bodies in the public sector and a track record of building respectful, open, and honest relationships with those bodies.
- A collaborative and collegial working style, and an ability to make and communicate difficult or controversial decisions.
- Experience in a highly complex, publicly funded organization.
- A demonstrated ability to anticipate changes in direction, funding and priorities; success in establishing plans to meet those changes.
Your extensive experience overseeing the financial management of an organization is ideally augmented by a finance designation or an MBA. You rely on your exemplary interpersonal, conflict resolution, communication and public relations skills to ensure all stakeholders are working collaboratively toward a common goal.
