Project Description:
PPOP was designed to provide China and particularly key institutions involved in the ongoing economic reform process, with timely and practical advice to develop policy options for socio-economic reform. PPOP is a responsive project. It matches requests from key Chinese authorities for assistance in analyzing policy alternatives to the best expertise available in Canada.PPOP is comprised of a number of small projects; each has a maximum budget of $200,000 and an expected turnaround of 12 months. It is administered in China by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and CIDA. IPAC and the Conference Board of Canada form the Canadian Executing Agency; they are responsible for identifying and contracting qualified Canadian resources and for managing the project in Canada.

Goal:
To promote China’s continuing socio-economic reform in areas critical to the development of a socialist market economy.                    

Objectives
To assist China in developing policy options for socio-economic reform and to provide support to key Chinese institutions enabling them to strengthen their capabilities to undertake policy analysis and development.
