Edmonton Regional Group Wins National Award The IPAC Edmonton Regional Group received the IPAC Regional Excellence Award for 2008-09. Representatives from the regional group received the award when they attended the annual national conference in Fredericton, New Brunswick, from August 23-26, 2009. |

Al Maurer Honoured with Public Sector Award Alberta Lieutenant Governor the Honourable Norman Kwong presented the Lieutenant Governor's Award for Excellence in Public Administration to Edmonton City Manager Al Maurer on December 3, 2009. Maurer has a career in municipal government spanning more than four decades. His first position in the public service was as a summer student responsible for painting traffic lines on roadways in Edmonton. Immediately after graduating he joined the municipality full time. His skills and abilities led him to progressive positions of leadership until he ultimately became city manager in 2000. Read the News Release |

Call for Nominations - Alberta Lieutenant Governor's Award Each year the Institue of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) present the Lieutenant Governor's Award. The Lieutenant Governor of Alberta is the patron of this award. The award recognizes the exceptional achievement of a person who has: • Shown distinctive leadership in public administration or • Who has made a significant contribution in the field of public administration in the province, by writings or other endeavors. The award pays tribute to public sector practitioners whose careers exhibit the highest standards of excellence, dedication, and accomplishments. It seeks to provide recognition of an outstanding individual and to underscore the efforts of creative, highly skilled individuals in the public sector. The award recognizes outstanding contributions on a sustained basis rather than as a result of a single initiative. Candidates will be judged based on criteria which include their leadership skills, innovation/creativity, accomplishment/impact, and community involvement. |
