New Professionals Award
NEW! 2011 IPAC Edmonton Regional Group New Public Servants Award of Excellence
The IPAC Edmonton Regional Group New Public Servants Award of Excellence is intended to recognize achievement and showcase emerging talent in the public service. The award recipient will be an individual who has made significant strides toward excellence in their role in the public service.
The award is sponsored by the IPAC Edmonton Region New Public Servants Committee and the IPAC Edmonton Region Executive Committee.
This is the third year for honouring a public servant with this significant award, which celebrates outstanding new public servant contributions in the Edmonton Region.
During the IPAC New Public Servants Recognition Dinner in May 2011, a senior colleague of the chosen award recipient will present one deserving new public servant with the 2011 Award of Excellence.
The recipient will receive an award, a one year IPAC membership and a congratulatory letter from Alberta’s Lieutenant Governor.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be currently employed by the public service.
- Must reside in the Edmonton Capital Region.
- Must be employed by the public service for five years or less.
- Must be nominated by a peer or supervisor employed in the public service.
- Neither members of the IPAC Edmonton New Public Servants nor Executive committees may nominate an employee.
- Members of the New Public Servants committee are not eligible to win.
Nominations should detail how individuals have made significant strides towards excellence in the public service by:
- Displaying a positive attitude towards work and learning.
- Showing commitment to continuously providing excellent service within or beyond the scope of usual roles and responsibilities.
- Demonstrating initiative toward improving the public service.
- Making a difference through their field of expertise, either in a current position or in a related volunteer role.
Selection Process
Representatives of Edmonton IPAC New Public Servants Awards Committee will review nominations and consider examples of demonstrated excellence in service at any level of public administration.
The uniqueness of individual contributions to the public service will also be considered in judging for the award.
Nomination Requirements:
A complete nomination package includes:
1. The nomination form.
2. A signed nomination letter, written by the nominator, providing specific, detailed examples to support the nomination with enough context to allow the selection committee to make an informed decision. Please also include some background information about the nominee.
3. A signed letter of support written by individual(s) other than the nominator.
Deadline
The complete nomination package must be received by the end of business on March 31, 2011. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
