Auditor General for Local Government

Surrey, B.C.

Bring your leadership, dedication and strategic management skills to this critical role

The Auditor General for Local Government Act provides for the creation of an independent Auditor General for Local Government (AGLG) balanced with accountability to citizens of the province. The AGLG has many similarities with the position of the provincial Auditor General yet is unique in its mandate and reporting structure. The intent is to create an additional means for ensuring the accountability of local governments in the province to their citizens.

As the Auditor General for Local Government, you will lead a team of auditors as they conduct performance audits to recommend to local governments how they might achieve the best value for money in their operations. This position oversees an office and the development of annual service plans that measure goals and objectives and highlight themes on which some or all performance audits may be based. An exceptional communicator with a collaborative approach, the Auditor General for Local Government will also have the conflict resolution skills and diplomacy required to work with local governments to achieve efficient and economic operations.

Visionary and results oriented, you promote an environment of professional excellence, ensuring a skilled team of financial auditors that deliver on the AGLG’s purpose, mandate and responsibilities. An exemplary leader and skilled strategic planner, you have the executive experience and the professional integrity required to help preserve the financial reliability of local government in British Columbia.
