65th IPAC National Annual Conference:
Reinventing Public Administration
Centre Sheraton, 1201 René-Lévesque West, Montreal, QC
August 18-21, 2013
Questions of change, adaptation and innovation are issues that have long been debated in organizations, both public and private. This conference will explore why, in what areas and in what ways governments must reinvent themselves, and then will identify the conditions necessary for such reinvention.
It has already been 21 years since Osborne and Gaebler published their landmark work which inspired a generation of leaders: “Reinventing Government: How the Entrepreneurial Spirit is Transforming the Public Sector”. It remains a timely analysis that fits well with the program agenda for the following reasons:
Relationships between citizens and public servants have been completely transformed;
Technologies – which are no longer new – are constantly changing, leading to shorter cycles for service delivery;
Public policy is no longer the prerogative of only public organizations and their leaders.
It is time to take stock and to look ahead. Are we ready for another reinvention?
